Community Builders: Jesus Connections

Contributed by: Phil Trotter, Diocese of Christchurch

Young people get a chance to think about Jesus, and practice talking about Jesus, by selecting two Jesus cards and describing the connection they see between the two. Use both the red and purple sets of Jesus cards (gifted to participants at The Abbey 2017) or print your own sets (Red Set / Purple Set).

Spread the cards face up on the floor or on a table that the group are sitting around. Explain that these cards represent various aspects of who Jesus is and his life and ministry.

Invite the group to look over the cards for a few minutes and chose two that they can make a connection between. There is no right or wrong answer, any connection counts – the purpose is to get young people thinking and talking about Jesus.

For round one, each person takes turns selecting two cards and describing the connection they have made.

For round two, invite each person to identify a connection that someone else made that they appreciated, or perhaps hadn’t thought about before or which gave them a fresh insight about Jesus.

Close with prayers of thanks and praise to Jesus, for who he is and his life and ministry.
