Mentoring & Discipleship: Mentoring Gauges

Contributed by: Phil Trotter, Diocese of Christchurch

Use this odometer-type tool to help your mentee consider how they’re doing on several important self-care gauges in their ministry or life. Such tools actually make it easier to share personal stuff by shifting the focus off the person and onto the piece of paper.

Like an odometer on a car, these Mentoring Gauges help measure levels (how someone is doing) on several important personal areas such as enthusiasm, frustration, friendship, optimism and stress Рnoting where things may need considered attention. It also helps identify any warning lights i.e. areas that need immediate attention.
