A Day of Prayer

Celebrating the end of Youth Week by joining in prayer together across our motu

Our first third · Our tamariki · Our rangatahi

"Tēnei anō taku kupu ki a koutou, ki te mea ka tokorua o koutou e rite tahi ana ngā whakaaro i te whenua mō tētahi mea e inoi ai rāua, e meinga anō mō rāua e tōku Matua i te rangi.""Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.

"Matthew 18:19–20 (NIV)

Why Prayer?

In a noisy world,
prayer is a radical act.

On Sunday 3 May 2026, Anglican Youth Aotearoa is calling the First Third community to seek God together — for our whānau, our communities, and our nation.

Whether you're gathered in a church hall, someone's lounge, or out in the bush, you're invited to join your voice with young people across Aotearoa in a shared moment of prayer. It's how we orient ourselves toward what matters most — and how we remember that we don't carry the weight of the world alone.

This is a chance to be still, to listen, and to lift one another up.

Our young people need
a generation who will pray

A Fresh Revelation of God

Our tamariki and rangatahi need freedom, a sense of belonging and worth grounded in our Creator.

🕊️

Peace & Security

They need to feel safe, to be loved well, and to have healthy and life-giving connections in their communities.

🌱

Renewed Hope

They need laughter and joy. They need God's voice to be louder than devices, social media, and the noise of the world.

🤝

Intergenerational Connection

As we enfold them into our churches and communities, we stand together in prayer and trust God to journey alongside us.

The challenges they navigate

Our young people are facing unprecedented pressures. For many, these tough issues have become their new normal. This is why we pray.

Anxiety & depression

Suicidal thoughts & self-harm

Device addiction

Pornography

Substance use

Gaming addiction

Eating disorders

Social disconnection

Cyberbullying

Discrimination

Violence

Climate anxiety

Global uncertainty

Isolation

Disconnect from faith
